According to Antaike statistics, wafer prices recorded a slight upward movement this week. Among them, the average transaction price of N-type G10L monocrystalline wafers (182 × 183.75 mm / 130 μm) reached RMB 1.17 per piece, up 0.86% week-on-week; N-type G12R monocrystalline wafers (182 × 210 mm / 130 μm) averaged RMB 1.20 per piece, up 0.84% WoW; and N-type G12 monocrystalline wafers (210 × 210 mm / 130 μm) averaged RMB 1.50 per piece, up 0.67% WoW.
According to market research, downstream cell prices increased slightly compared with last week, while module prices remained stable. The mainstream cell price ranged from RMB 0.28–0.30/W, up 7.1% WoW, while mainstream module prices were RMB 0.66–0.68/W, basically flat week-on-week.
Some wafer orders saw slight price increases this week, mainly driven by the following factors. First, cost side: polysilicon prices have remained stable recently, providing cost support for wafer manufacturers. Second, demand side: due to rising silver prices used in solar cells, cell prices have begun to increase, which to some extent has strengthened expectations for wafer price hikes. Third, supply side: operating rates of wafer manufacturers have declined significantly. As a result, market sentiment has turned more positive, and wafer prices have edged up slightly.
This week, the overall industry operating rate continued to decline slightly, down 5% WoW. Among them, two first-tier companies reported operating rates of 50% and 48%, integrated enterprises operated at 50%–70%, and other companies ran at 50%–72%.
With signs of recovery in the wafer market, most wafer manufacturers plan to gradually raise their new round of quotations this week. Some companies have even chosen to suspend shipments temporarily to observe subsequent price trends. Looking ahead, wafer price movements will depend on the pace of recovery in end-market demand. Although downstream demand remains relatively weak, with production cuts being gradually implemented, the wafer market is expected to remain generally stable in the short term.
